The 2024 election will likely center on five issues for debates, press releases, campaigns, etc.

1. Climate Change
Climate change will be an important policy issue in the 2024 election since it is a highly polarized issue. Former president Donald Trump vocally opposes most climate change legislation and, instead, encourages the expansion of the nation’s oil and gas industry. Additionally, he often ignores the effects of climate change on the world. In contrast, President Biden regularly acknowledges climate change as a major issue. He has encouraged legislation to minimize the effects of climate change and promoted the use of “clean” energy.
2. United States Economy
The United States economy will always be a major political issue, and that is true for 2024. While president, Donald Trump and his fellow Republicans passed major tax reforms and created 7 million new jobs. Trump received praise from his constituents for his economic accomplishments. The rising inflation across the United States is a hot issue for the nation’s economy in 2024. Republicans are quick to condemn Biden’s policies. Biden introduced “Bidenomics” which aims to fund infrastructure projects and impact climate initiatives. Both candidates will focus on their economic plans to slow the inflation taking over the country since the pandemic.
3. Foreign Policy
Foreign policy will be a hot political issue in 2024, specifically the Israel-Hamas war. Trump will continue to follow his “America First” agenda. He promised to support Israel against the Hamas terrorist organization but remains critical of the Israeli leaders as they handle the conflict. Joe Biden’s foreign policy has consistently focused on maintaining and supporting America’s allies. Biden has continued to provide support to both Ukraine and Israel. He condemns the civilian deaths in Gaza but does not call for a ceasefire.
4. Immigration
Immigration will remain an important issue in the 2024 presidential election. Donald Trump has consistently spoken out for a more secure southern border, and his views remain the same in 2024. Trump has promised to initiate deportation programs and increase security along the southern border to stop illegal immigration into the United States. Additionally, Trump will most likely make efforts to finish the wall along the southern border that he started during his presidency. During Biden’s presidency, he decided not to continue Trump’s border wall. Instead, Biden has aimed to reform and expand legal ways for immigrants to come to the United States.
5. Reproductive Rights
The Supreme Court overturned the case Roe v. Wade in 2022 limiting access to abortion in the United States. This has angered pro-choice Democrats and Republicans alike. Donald Trump has held a more moderate stance on abortion while supporting some restrictions on the procedure. He has not released his own plan on the issue but teases the press for it. In contrast, Joe Biden supports abortion access in the United States and backs Roe v. Wade. He has promised to work to protect access to the abortion pill and reproductive health care.
